Man Blinded in Shocking Bank Holiday Attack with Unknown Substance

A man was left with painful blisters and rushed to hospital after being sprayed in the face with a mysterious substance on Bank Holiday evening.

Attack on Crampton Street

The victim was at a property on Crampton Street, SE17, at around 8.30pm on Monday, May 1st, when a male attacker sprayed him in the face. The unknown liquid caused blistering and severe irritation.

Emergency Response and Hospitalisation

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed they were called at 8.30pm. An ambulance and officer assessed the man but decided no critical care was needed at the scene.

“The man was transported to hospital for further assessment and treatment,” the spokesperson added.

Police Make Arrest as Investigation Continues

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 8.30pm on Monday, 1 May, to an address in Crampton Street, SE17. A man was sprayed with an unknown irritant substance.

“The male has been taken to hospital. Injuries are not believed to be serious at this stage, but police continue to monitor the situation.”

A suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
