At 9.25pm on Friday 4 March, a woman was calmly talking on her phone while seated on a train at Runcorn station. That peace was shattered when a man in the same carriage suddenly began shouting aggressively at her.

When the victim challenged his aggression, the man didn’t hold back. He struck her around the head, leaving the victim shaken and police on alert.
