Armed Robbery Attempt Foiled at West London Post Office
Detectives are hunting a man who tried to rob a post office in Hayes, West London — armed with what appeared to be a gun.
Suspect Scares Staff But Gets Chased Off
The drama unfolded at 3.22pm on Thursday, 25 June, when police were called to a post office on Jollys Lane after reports of an armed robbery attempt.
Thankfully, no one was hurt. Officers learned the suspect had been lurking near the post office from around 2pm. At about 3pm, he walked in asking about stamp prices. Then 20 minutes later, he stormed back, brandishing a suspected handgun and demanding cash.
Quick-thinking staff believed the weapon was a fake. They bravely chased the suspect away before he could steal anything.
Getaway on Bike and Description of Suspect
The suspect fled on a pedal cycle through the shops towards Acer Avenue.
He’s described as a white male in his late teens, about 5ft 10ins tall, with blond hair. He wore a black tracksuit with a pattern down the right leg and sleeve, his hood up, and had a balaclava and gloves on. A dark green rucksack completed his look.
Police Appeal for Info as Flying Squad Leads Hunt
Detective Constable Andy Reason said: “Thankfully no one was injured during the incident, and nothing was taken, but this could have easily played out very differently.
The suspect produced a suspected firearm during the incident and it is therefore vital that we apprehend him as soon as possible before he commits any further crimes. We are therefore calling on the public to assist us.
