Manhunt Underway After Sexual Assault Near Thames in Greenwich
Victim Attacked in Early Morning Assault
Detectives have released images of a man they want to quiz over a sexual assault in Greenwich. The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was walking along the Thames Path between 4.30am and 4.40am on Friday, 26 June.
She was near Highbridge Wharf, close to the Trafalgar Tavern Pub, when a man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.
Victim Fights Back, Suspect Flees Scene
The brave young woman fought back, causing the attacker to flee along Eastney Street SE10. CCTV footage shows him heading into Lassell Street SE10.
Suspect Description and Police Appeal
- White male
- Brown ear-length hair styled in curtains
- Wearing black Adidas tracksuit with white stripes on arms and legs
Detective Constable Ellie Cordery from the South East Command Unit is leading the investigation. She said:
“This was a distressing and frightening incident for the victim, who was on her way home after socialising with friends. She is being supported by specially trained officers. We would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the images captured. While we appreciate they might not be the best quality, we are hopeful someone may come forward.”
