Violent Mob Attacks Camberwell’s Lighthouse Theatre
More than 100 people, some armed with sticks and missiles, launched a brutal attack on the Lighthouse Theatre on Camberwell Road, SE5, on 30 December 2023.
Police Under Fire: Four Officers Injured
Officers guarding the public came under savage assault during the demonstration. Four cops suffered serious injuries, including concussions. Several needed hospital treatment after being struck by flying missiles.
44 Arrested but Many Suspects Still Wanted
Detective Superintendent Sian Thomas, leading the investigation, blasted the violence:
“The level of violence used against officers, who were there to keep the public safe and protect people in a theatre, is some of the worst I have seen.”
So far, 44 people have been arrested for various offences linked to the attack. But police say more suspects remain at large and they urgently need the public’s help.
