Deadly Crush Unfolds on December 15
Tragedy struck on the evening of Thursday, 15 December, when a huge crowd gathered outside a London venue, sparking chaos. Police were first called at 9.04pm. Just half an hour later, reports came in of people trying to force their way inside. The situation quickly spiralled out of control.
Serious Injuries and Fatalities
- Several people suffered serious injuries and were treated at the scene by emergency crews.
- Two victims, 33-year-old Rebecca Ikumelo and 23-year-old Gaby Hutchinson, died in hospital days later.
- A 21-year-old woman remains in critical condition.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Superintendent Dave Kennett from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation. He urged witnesses to step up:
“We know there were thousands of people in and around the venue. Many saw what happened or were caught in the crush. What they tell us is vital.”
Kennett added officers are combing through CCTV and social media videos to piece together the tragic events:
“Videos shared online show the scale of chaos inside entrances and the atrium. Any footage could help explain exactly what took place and why.”
He vowed a full, thorough investigation:
“Two people have died and a third is seriously injured. We owe it to them, their families and everyone affected to leave no stone unturned.”
