Man, 79, Found Dead with Serious Head Injuries in Accrington
Police were called to St James Street, Accrington, just before 2pm on August 28 following a welfare concern. Emergency teams discovered a 79-year-old man with severe head injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two Men Arrested on Suspicion of Murder
Following inquiries, two local men, aged 54 and 58, both from Accrington, were arrested on suspicion of murder on August 29. They remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving support from officers.
Police Seek Witnesses and CCTV Footage
DCI Pauline Stables of the Force Major Investigation Team said: “My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this extremely distressing time. A murder investigation is underway, and I urge any witnesses to come forward.”
“Please check CCTV or dashcam footage for anything that could help our inquiries. We understand residents will be concerned, so we have boosted patrols and are carrying out door-to-door enquiries. If you see officers, please approach and share any information.”
