Early Morning Blitz: Four Men Nabbed in Firearms and Drugs Raids
In a dramatic pre-dawn swoop on Wednesday, 8 April, cops arrested four men during a series of raids across Greenwich. The operation cracked down on suspected firearms possession, drugs, and links to serious crime.
Long-Running Probe Leads to Massive Raids
The crackdown follows a lengthy investigation sparked by the attempted murder of a 33-year-old man in Throwley Close on 29 December 2019. Over six months, local violent crimes including firearms offences plagued the area, prompting officers to take action.
Greenwich officers from South East Command executed eight warrants: six in Abbeywood and two more in Combwell Crescent and West Parkside. The Specialist Firearms Command and Territorial Support Group provided vital muscle, including specialist entry gear, to ensure swift arrests.
Four Men Arrested Over Attempted Murder
- Suspects aged 56, 22, 22, and 14
- All arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
- Ongoing searches continue at multiple properties
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy stressed the impact: “The work of officers today has meant that violent individuals are taken off our streets. This shows our unstoppable commitment to stamp out violence.”
Greenwich Leaders Back Tough Action
Councillor Danny Thorpe, Leader of Greenwich, vowed relentless efforts: “Our ‘No Home for Harm’ campaign means we’ll take the strongest action against anyone responsible for crime and disorder.”
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the raids.
This bold early morning blitz sends a clear message — Greenwich won’t tolerate guns, drugs, or violent crime.
