Four Men Arrested in Dramatic Early Morning Greenwich Raids

Firearms and Drugs Crackdown After Attempted Murder

In a bold operation in the early hours of Wednesday, 8 April, police swooped on several properties across Greenwich. Four men were arrested following raids targeting firearms, drugs, and serious crime links. The dramatic arrests cap off a long-running probe sparked by the attempted murder of a 33-year-old man on 29 December 2019 in Throwley Close, SE2.

Multiple Warrants Executed With Specialist Support

Officers from Greenwich’s South East Command executed six warrants at Abbeywood, SE2, plus two more at homes in Combwell Crescent, SE2, and West Parkside, SE10. The Specialist Firearms Command and Territorial Support Group lent their expertise and specialist entry equipment to the high-stakes raids.

Suspects Held on Suspicion of Attempted Murder

Four males, aged 56, 22, 22, and just 14, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Searches at the targeted properties are ongoing as police hunt further evidence.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said: “The work of officers today has meant that violent individuals are taken off our streets. This shows our unwavering commitment to crushing those intent on causing harm.”

Councillor Danny Thorpe, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, added: “We will always work with policing colleagues to keep Greenwich safe. Our ‘No Home for Harm’ campaign means we take the strongest enforcement action against anyone causing crime and disorder.”

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the raids. Police vow to keep up the pressure on violent crime across the borough.
