The con artists tried to trick people into handing over sensitive bank details using clever lies. Thankfully, all three victims smelled a rat and called Kent Police or trusted advisers before handing over any info or money.

PC Green said, “Don’t be embarrassed about reporting a scam. These scammers are crafty, and speaking up helps protect everyone.”

How to Stay Safe from Phone Fraud

  • Hang up immediately if a caller claims to be a police officer but feels suspicious.
  • Wait five minutes before using your phone again – scammers sometimes keep the line open to fool you.
  • Always contact the police directly to confirm any claims from supposed officers.
