Serious Crash in Godshill Brings Chaos to Newport Road
Emergency services rushed to a major crash near Brownriggs Farmshop on Newport Road, Godshill, just before 4pm this Tuesday. A collision involving a Seat Leon and a blue Volkswagen Beetle has caused a full road closure and trapped several school and Southern Vectis buses.
Road Closed, Buses Stuck Amid Major Delays
Police have slammed a hard closure at the Bluecross Animal Shelter junction, shutting the road at A3020 and Merston Lane. Buses are forced to make tricky U-turns in farm entrances as passengers, including schoolchildren, wait on grass verges, shuffled between vehicles.
Injuries and Investigation Underway
Paramedics treated two people on scene – a pensioner driving the Volkswagen Beetle and a younger man in the Seat Leon. One person has been hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made.
Traffic Diverted, Road Reopens
- Traffic headed towards Shanklin now diverts via Merstone Lane, causing delays.
- Southern Vectis confirms buses are not serving Godshill currently.
- Police investigation ongoing, but at 5:10pm, the crashed vehicles were removed by Stag Lane Motors and Newport Road reopened.
