Tragic Death of ‘Kind-Hearted’ Bexhill Woman in A27 Crash

Tributes have poured in for Cheryl Brookes, 35, described as a “kind-hearted and caring” woman, who died in a smash on the A27 at Pevensey. Cheryl was a passenger in a white Ford Fiesta ST that overturned shortly before 7.30pm on Friday 9 July.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her devastated family—including dad William, brother Billy, and her two children, 19-year-old Bethany and 17-year-old Liam—have paid emotional homage to her memory.

Family Mourns ‘Special Woman’ Who Put Others First

“Cheryl was very kind-hearted, caring and loving. She was always there for people and would always put others before herself,” her family said.

“She was the glue that kept us all together. We were incredibly close and that bond will never break.

“Cheryl rarely had time for herself; she cared deeply for her son and stood by her ill father relentlessly. She adored her grandchildren, Esme, 3, and 18-month-old Brody, constantly buying them treats.

“She was a livewire who loved to sing and dance, and an amazing cook who made Christmas extra special with decorations and celebrations.

“Despite a tough life, she fought through and achieved so much. We had holidays and plans, but now she’s gone—leaving a huge hole in our lives.”

Devastated Dad and Daughter Speak Out

Cheryl’s father William said: “She was my youngest daughter—we depended on each other every day. Now I can’t function without her.

“I miss her texts and calls. My heart is shattered. I’ll love you unconditionally and keep my promises until we meet again.”

Her daughter Bethany added: “My mum was not just my mum—she was my best friend, more like a sister. I told her everything and leaned on her when I needed support.

“My heart is broken beyond words. She had the most beautiful smile and the funniest laugh. So many people loved her for her amazing personality.

“I’ll love and miss you forever. Sleep tight, beautiful, until we meet again.”

Crash Investigation Underway—Police Seek Witnesses

Sussex Police continue to investigate the fatal collision. Anyone driving between Falmer and Pevensey from 6.45pm to 7.30pm on 9 July with dash cam footage is urged to come forward.
