Tragedy in Nottinghamshire as Missing Pensioner Found Dead Days After Son’s Body Discovered

Body of Brian Wright Found in Field

The body of missing pensioner Brian Wright, 82, has been found dumped in a Nottinghamshire field just days after his son’s body was discovered nearby. Police are treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Son Found Dead Days Earlier

Brian was located near Danethorpe Lane after officers followed a tip-off about the elderly farmer’s death. His son, Charles Wright, believed to be 52, was found dead days before in an outbuilding near the A1133 in Langford.

Police Offer Support and Call It ‘Deeply Tragic’

Nottinghamshire Police have informed the families and are providing support through specially trained staff. Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow commented:

“This is clearly a deeply tragic case, and we are continuing to support family members at this extremely difficult time.”

The force has also referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous contact with the family, aiming for full transparency.

No Other Suspects, No Connection to Hit-and-Run

Authorities stressed they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths. They also confirmed there is no link to a recent hit-and-run incident nearby that occurred shortly before Charles was found.

A post-mortem and formal identification are scheduled. The heartbreaking case has left Langford residents reeling as they try to come to terms with the tragedy.
