Tragic Crash on Southworth Road: Man Dies After Ford Kuga Hits Tree

Merseyside Police are probing a deadly smash on Southworth Road near Mere Road. Just after 10.30pm on Monday, June 10, a white Ford Kuga careered off the road and smashed into a tree.

One Dead, Another Injured

A 35-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. Another man, also in his 30s, suffered injuries but no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Arrest Made at Scene

Officers arrested a 35-year-old man at the crash site on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drink or drugs. He remains in custody.

Road Closures and Appeal for Witnesses

Southworth Road remains closed as crash investigators carry out their work. Police warn drivers to avoid the area and seek dashcam footage from anyone who was nearby at the time.

Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased. We are in the early stages of the inquiry and urge anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward.”
