Blaze Hits Casa Brasil Restaurant in Port Solent
A fiery scare erupted late last night at the popular Casa Brasil restaurant in Port Solent. Flames broke out in the kitchen around 10pm, quickly spreading to the roof and sending firefighters into action.
Massive Fire Response at Port Solent
Six fire engines from across Hampshire raced to the scene, including crews from Southsea, Cosham, Portchester, Fareham, and Eastleigh. An aerial ladder was deployed to tackle the stubborn blaze from above as flames engulfed the roof.
Kitchen Fire Sparks Roof Blaze
The fire began in the meat preparation area of the restaurant’s kitchen before spreading to ventilation ducts. Firefighter Jim Clarke confirmed the damage was mostly confined to the ducts and roof, with additional water damage inside the premises.
Evacuations and Safety Measures
Police set up cordons and evacuated the nearby area, forcing some customers to leave their vehicles overnight. At the peak, around 40 firefighters were battling the flames. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported and all Casa Brasil staff are safe.
Fire crews remain on site this morning, cutting away parts of the roof to snuff out any lingering hot spots. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is ongoing.
