Massive Farmhouse Blaze Rips Through Whitchurch – 12 Fire Engines Battle Flames
Firefighters raced to a major blaze engulfing a farmhouse in Whitchurch late Wednesday night. Twelve fire engines and 60 firefighters were scrambled to tackle the well-developed fire and stop it spreading to a neighbouring mill.
Flames Visible From A34 as Crews Mobilise
The inferno broke out on London Road just after 10pm, sending thick smoke and towering flames visible from the nearby A34. Fire teams from across the county – including Whitchurch, Overton, Andover, Sutton Scotney, Winchester, Basingstoke, Eastleigh, plus Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue – joined the fight.
Farmhouse and Mill Suffer Heavy Damage, No Injuries Reported
Despite the fierce fire damaging the ground floor, first floor and roof of both properties, luckily no one was injured. Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the blaze is now under control after crews doused the flames with jets and foam.
Police and Ambulance Services Support Fire Efforts
Police implemented restrictions to keep the scene safe for emergency crews, while the South Central Ambulance Service dispatched multiple resources as a precaution. Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for some time to fully secure the area and prevent any flare-ups.
“A farmhouse and a mill were badly damaged in a large fire in Whitchurch,” said a Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesman.
