Four fire crews battled a fierce roof fire in Durley this lunchtime.
Blaze Tears Through Bungalow Roof
Crews from Bishops Waltham, Hightown, Eastleigh, and St Mary’s rushed to Durley Brook Road just before 1pm on Thursday. A bungalow’s roof was severely damaged by flames and thick smoke.
Firefighters Fight Hard to Douse Flames
It took one crew an hour and a half to bring the blaze under control. They deployed four breathing apparatus sets, one main jet, two hose reel jets, and an extra jet to tackle the inferno.
Cause Under Investigation
Fire investigators are now probing how the fire started. The homeowner, surveying the damage this afternoon, believes faulty electrics in the roof sparked the blaze. He said he noticed smoke billowing while working outside nearby.
