Firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service raced to tackle a fierce hedge fire that spread to homes on Grange Road, Tunbridge Wells, in the early hours of New Year’s Day. The cause of the fire remains a mystery as crews fought hard to prevent disaster.

Alarm Raised at 1:50 AM – Rapid Response Saves Homes

The fire was first reported at 1:50 AM, prompting two fire engines to rush to the scene. Flames had leapt from a hedge onto two nearby houses, threatening to cause severe damage.

Using high-pressure hose jets and ventilation fans, firefighters doused the blaze and cleared smoke from the properties, bringing the situation under control within an hour.

“Two fire engines attended, and crews extinguished the flames, which had started to spread to two nearby houses. Firefighters used high-pressure fans to clear the properties of any smoke,” said a Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman.
