Chemical Scare at Warblington School Sends Five to Hospital
Emergency services rushed to Warblington School in Havant after a chemical incident left five people needing hospital checks. The alarm was raised this morning, sparking a major response from police, fire crews, ambulance teams, and specialist hazardous materials units.
Five Taken to Hospital After Chemical Smell
At 9:54am, Hampshire Fire and Rescue received reports of a strange chemical smell at Warblington School on Southleigh Road. Firefighters, supported by the Hazard Area Response Team and a Detection Identification and Monitoring Unit (DIM) from Winchester, raced to the scene.
Three adults and two teenagers were taken to hospital for precautionary check-ups. Thankfully, none was seriously affected by the fumes.
School Reassures Parents Amid Ongoing Investigation
The school has put a cordon around the affected area as emergency teams work to identify the source of the chemical. A spokesperson said:
“There has been an incident at the school. Emergency services are attending and investigating a smell. There are no chemicals involved, and students and staff are safe in the Sports Hall.”
Five people—three teachers and two students—were affected. Their parents have been contacted individually. The school urges parents not to attend the site while investigations continue and promises further updates shortly.
