British Evac Flights from Israel Kicked Off Amid Deadly Conflict
First Evac Flight Set to Leave Tel Aviv
The Foreign Office has launched urgent flights to pull British nationals out of Israel. The first plane will take off from Tel Aviv this Thursday. Alongside, a rapid deployment team is on its way to help Brits still on the ground.
Priority for Vulnerable Brits
The government is prioritising vulnerable citizens for evacuation. Commercial flights are also being arranged to assist British nationals trying to escape the conflict zone. The Foreign Office warns only those contacted and eligible should head to the airport — no one else must turn up uninvited.
Rising Death Toll & UK Casualties
The conflict, sparked by a brutal Hamas attack, has claimed over 2,400 lives so far. Worriedly, 26-year-old Jake Marlowe became the fourth British victim. In total, 17 UK nationals have been confirmed dead or missing amid escalating violence.
Travel Warnings and Diplomatic Safety Measures
The Foreign Office urges a strict ban on all non-essential travel to Israel. It’s also taking steps to evacuate diplomats’ families. Meanwhile, the Israeli Embassy revealed around 100 UK citizens have joined the Israeli military effort.
