Tragic Fall from Busy Bridge in Ehringshausen Way Area
Man Spotted Sitting on High Wall
Just after 8pm on Monday, June 6, police were called to Ehringshausen Way following reports of a man perched on a high wall above a busy road. Officers arrived quickly and spoke to the man, who then left the scene without incident.
Serious Fall Ends in Death
Less than two hours later, just before 9.30pm, emergency services were called to Hamlet Road after the same man, believed to be in his late 40s, fell from a high bridge nearby. He suffered serious injuries, and police sealed off the area with a cordon.
Death Investigated as Unexplained
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed he was the same individual involved earlier. The death is being treated as unexplained, with the coroner set to be notified.
Police Conduct Watchdog Takes Over
The Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) has been alerted, as per protocol whenever a death follows initial police contact. Investigations are ongoing.
