Four Held Over Andover Stabbing Released Without Charge

Four people arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old man in Andover have been released with no further action taken. The victim, originally from London, was found with serious stab wounds in an alley off Smannell Road in the early hours of Friday, February 9. Despite being rushed to hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Initial Arrests Spark Hopes, Then Disappointment

Hampshire Police swooped to arrest two men aged 37 and 46, and two women aged 32 and 47, on suspicion of murder. However, after their investigations, all four have been released with no charges.

Victim’s Death Confirmed as Stabbing

A post-mortem confirmed the man died from stab wounds, confirming the violent nature of the crime which has rocked the Andover community.

Drug Links And Ongoing Probe

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Chivers says one line of inquiry points to a possible drug-related motive. “We have spoken to several people and are piecing together what happened during those crucial early hours,” he revealed.

Police presence will remain high in the area throughout the weekend as the investigation continues.

Officers have carried out house-to-house inquiries and forensic work at the scene.
