Two Men Held Over Terror Plot as Met Steps Up Hunt
Police have secured extended detention for two men nabbed on terror-related suspicions this week. The pair, aged 20 and 21, face allegations of involvement in planning and encouraging terrorism.
North London and Birmingham Arrests
On Tuesday, November 28, Met’s Counter Terrorism Command swooped in north London at around 2:50pm to arrest a 20-year-old man. Just a couple of hours later, at about 4:30pm, officers backed by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit detained a 21-year-old man in south-east Birmingham.
Extended Detention Granted Amid Ongoing Probes
Both suspects remain in custody at a south-east London police station under the Terrorism Act. Warrants of further detention now allow police to hold the men until Tuesday, December 5, giving investigators more time to dig into the case.
Searches at their homes in Birmingham and north London have wrapped up as the probe continues.
