Three Shocking Brawls Rock Manchester Airport Terminal 2
Greater Manchester Police are hunting witnesses after a chaotic night at Manchester Airport on Tuesday, 23rd July 2024. Three separate violent incidents unfolded at Terminal 2, leaving officers injured and the public shaken.
Flight Fight, Coffee Clash, and Cop Assault
- First altercation: Trouble erupted onboard Qatar Airways flight QR023, which landed at 7.20pm. The fight may have started in the air or soon after, erupting in the Terminal 2 baggage hall.
- Second brawl: Tempers flared again around 8.22pm inside the busy Starbucks in Terminal 2, involving members of the public.
- Police attacked: Just six minutes later, at 8.28pm, three Greater Manchester officers were assaulted near the Terminal 2 car park pay point. All suffered head injuries, including one with a broken nose.
Official Probe Launched Over Police Use Of Force
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is now independently investigating how GMP officers used force after these incidents. Footage circulating on social media shows the tense moments following the attacks.
