Chaos at Dorset Beach as Three Kids Go Missing Within an Hour
HM Coastguard has slammed a major safety warning after three children vanished separately at Weymouth Beach in Dorset — all within just over an hour. The alerts came in between 2:30pm and 3:35pm on 14 July, sparking a huge rescue operation.
Massive Search Operation Launched
Calls flooded the Coastguard reporting kids aged 1, 5, 8, and 9 missing. Teams from Wyke Regis, Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue, Weymouth RNLI lifeboat, Weymouth lifeguards, the police, and a rescue chopper based at Lee-on-Solent scrambled to scour the area.
Thankfully, all three youngsters were found safe and unharmed — but the incident highlights a worrying spike in kids going missing on beaches amid the sizzling summer heatwave.
Coastguard Pleads: Watch Your Kids Closely
Mark Rodaway, Duty Commander for UK Coastguard said: “Our centres have been swamped with 999 calls about missing children at beaches across the country. It’s terrifying for parents and rescuers alike.”
He added: “Even shallow water or slippery rocks can be dangerous. Keep an eye on your kids at all times. If possible, choose beaches with lifeguards and set a clear meeting point. Teach your children where the lifeguard station is so they know where to go if separated.”
