Hounslow Muslim Centre shuts after brutal assault nearby
Serious Incident Shakes Hanworth Road
The Hounslow Muslim Centre has slammed its doors temporarily after a violent attack shook the area just outside its Hanworth Road location on Sunday afternoon, 22 June 2025.
At around 2.20pm, emergency teams rushed to the scene where a man in his 20s was seriously injured in what police have described as a public assault. The disturbing event happened close to several local shops, including the Centre — but crucially, the Centre and its worshippers were not involved.
Centre Clarifies No Connection to Attack
“We want to make it clear that this incident is not connected to the Centre in any way. Those involved did not enter our premises,” the Centre said in a statement Sunday evening.
Police set up a cordon and advised all nearby businesses, including the Centre, to close temporarily. Forensics teams are working to investigate the crime scene and keep the public safe.
Centre Closed Until Monday Afternoon
As a precaution, the Hounslow Muslim Centre will remain closed for prayers and classes until at least Monday afternoon, 23 June. The Centre will update the public via its website and social media channels as the situation unfolds.
The Centre thanked emergency responders for their quick action and pledged full cooperation with the Metropolitan Police, urging the community to avoid speculation or spreading false information online.
“Violence has no place in our community,” the Centre said. “We remain committed to working with all partners to help build a safer society for everyone.”
