14-Year-Old Drowns After Becoming Entangled in Canal Lock
The 14-year-old was swimming near a canal lock when he disappeared underwater. His friends frantically searched and called 999. West Yorkshire Police and rescue teams launched a prompt search and recovered the boy’s body around 90 minutes later.
Police Confirm No Suspicious Circumstances
“At 4.32pm yesterday (Saturday), police received a concern for safety report for a male in the canal by Thwaite Lane, Leeds,” said a police spokesperson. “A teenage male was recovered from the water by emergency personnel. He was given medical attention at the scene but was sadly pronounced dead shortly after. The death is not being investigated as suspicious, and a file for the coroner has been prepared.”
