An explosion on Green Lane, Illingworth, has left a property severely damaged and three people injured. The blast happened early on Saturday morning, sparking a major fire response.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

Halifax Police teamed up with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue after being alerted around 7:40am on December 5. The fire brigade battled the blaze while police launched a full investigation into the cause.

Injuries Reported After Devastating Blast

  • A woman suffered severe burns and was rushed to hospital.
  • A man was seriously injured and also taken for treatment.
  • A second woman sustained minor injuries.

Authorities Probe Cause as Community Waits for Answers

Chief Superintendent Sarah Baker said: “Officers are working with our partners in the fire service, Calderdale Council, Health and Safety Executive, and Northern Gas Networks to investigate this clearly very serious incident in Illingworth. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Efforts remain underway to make the area safe and support residents affected by what has taken place.”

The investigation is ongoing as emergency crews continue to secure the site and offer support to those impacted.
