Chris Kaba Shot Dead by Police in Streatham Hill
Investigators from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) are probing the fatal police shooting of 24-year-old Chris Kaba in Kirkstall Gardens, Streatham Hill, on Monday 5 September.
What Happened? Armed Police Tried to Stop Kaba’s Car
The IOPC revealed that armed officers in a response vehicle spotted Kaba’s car after an automatic number plate recognition camera linked it to a recent firearms incident. As police attempted to stop the vehicle, one officer fired a single shot around 10 p.m.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, administering CPR before Kaba was taken to hospital where he later died.
No Gun Found at Scene; Forensic Tests Underway
After a thorough search, no non-police firearms were found at the scene or in Kaba’s car. Police vehicles involved have been taken for forensic examination to uncover further details.
