Israeli Airstrike Injures Two Syrian Soldiers in Deir Az Zor

In a late-night air raid, Israeli jets struck military sites in Syria’s eastern Deir Az Zor region, injuring two Syrian soldiers. The attack, reported around 11:50pm Monday, has escalated tensions in an already volatile area.

Unseen Warplanes Target Iranian-Backed Militias

Syria’s state news agency SANA confirmed the strike targeted armed forces near Deir Az Zor, causing material damage as well as injuries. Israel has yet to acknowledge the raid, raising alarms about the simmering conflict.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights tracked three explosions near positions held by Iranian-backed militias in Deir Az Zor. The attack reportedly came from unidentified warplanes, hitting a weapons storage house in the city. The observatory also warned that Iranian militias are sneaking through illegal routes between Iraq and Syria, extending their grip on the region.

Israel’s Shadow War Against Iranian Influence

Israel has long carried out covert strikes inside Syria against positions linked to Iran, which has backed President Bashar al-Assad since 2011. This latest assault fits the pattern as Israel tries to squeeze Iranian footholds amid Syria’s chaotic civil war.

No official word has come yet from the Israeli military about the latest airstrike, keeping its motives under wraps. Israel’s strategy often involves unacknowledged hit-and-run attacks to neutralise threats quietly.

Recent Golan Heights Clashes Add to Regional Drama

Last month, Israel admitted to destroying two Syrian structures in the Golan Heights, using tank fire over the border citing security threats. These tensions add fuel to the complex geopolitical tinderbox in Syria’s war-torn landscape.
