Teen in Critical Condition After Jeep Crashes Into Suburban Deli
A horrific crash has left a teen fighting for life after a Jeep smashed into a suburban restaurant in Hinsdale on Monday afternoon. The Jeep tore into the Fontano Sub Shop and Deli, injuring several people in a shocking scene.
Multiple Injured as Jeep Speeds Into Crowd
Officials say the teenager was hit shortly after 2.30pm and is now in critical condition. Four others were also hurt, with three in serious states. Witnesses described sheer terror as the Jeep, which had just left a nearby car wash, suddenly sped towards the restaurant, forcing diners to dive for cover.
Restaurant Owner Horrified by Brutal Crash
Dominic Fontano, who owns the deli, watched the chilling surveillance footage and said the images will haunt him for life. “There’s a couple of teens at the entrance… they just got up and were ready to head out when the car ploughed over two of them. The little boy was on the side, hit and carried over to this side. I don’t think I’ll ever get that out of my sight,” he revealed.
Authorities have questioned the Jeep driver but have not disclosed the cause of the crash. Fontano’s shock was clear: “It’s hard to explain… The little boy was lying where they’re now hosing off, and the young lady teen was underneath the car on the inside.”
Community Left Stunned
Nearby worker Jamie Lugo voiced disbelief over such a rare event in their usually quiet area. “You never see stuff like this. It’s very quiet,” she said.
The investigation continues with no updates on the teen’s condition or potential charges against the driver.
