Light Aircraft Crashes in Stebbing, Essex – Emergency Services Race to Rescue
A light aircraft crash in Stebbing, Essex, this afternoon (30 June) sparked a massive emergency response. Firefighters, police, paramedics, and air ambulance teams rushed to the scene to mount a swift rescue operation.
Fire Crews Swift to the Scene
Firefighters from Dunmow, Newport, Brentwood, and Saffron Walden were called in immediately. They found the aircraft with just one occupant inside. Teams worked quickly alongside other emergency services to rescue the casualty and secure the crash site.
Firefighters Race to Douse Fire Risk
Station Manager Scott Fretton led the efforts. He said:
“Crews assisted our emergency service colleagues with the casualty. They used an off-road vehicle to dampen down the area around the aircraft due to the risk of it catching fire.”
The casualty was successfully pulled from the wreckage and handed over to paramedics and the Air Ambulance Service for urgent medical care.
On-Call Firefighters Prove Vital
Most responders at the scene were on-call firefighters—local heroes who live nearby and are paid to jump into action when disaster strikes.
Essex Fire and Rescue are now urging more people to sign up as on-call firefighters to protect their communities:
