Police Called to ‘Foal Play’ Chaos in Bloxwich

Forget car chases and crooks – two local cops had a surprising morning dealing with some four-legged mischief.

On Wednesday, officers PC Grace Mottram and PC Paul Florey were scrambled to Goscote Lane in Bloxwich after a horse went rogue. The animal, described as a small, black four-legged troublemaker standing about 12 hands tall, broke free from its tether and sent a walker sprawling in a nearby field.

The runaway horse was causing quite the stir, charging at people wandering through the area. Thankfully, PC Mottram, who grew up on a Shropshire farm, sprang into action.

“The horse was clearly spooked at being alone and free to wander…and scared of the dogs,” said Grace.

With her calm, animal-savvy approach, Grace quickly earned the horse’s trust and led it back to safety. She confirmed the horse was well cared for – it had water and food by its tether and was familiar to locals.

“I’m used to dealing with animals, so I called it over and quickly got it under control,” Grace explained. “You never know what you’re going to be facing as a police officer! I joined just over two years ago and love the variety – there’s rarely a dull moment.”
