Massive Hunt Underway for Missing Kayaker Off Dorset Coast
A desperate search is on this morning for a kayaker who vanished during a race in Dorset. The man was reported missing after failing to finish a race from Knoll Beach to Swanage Pier yesterday afternoon.
Coastguard Pulls Out All Stops
The HM Coastguard has deployed a fixed-wing aircraft to bolster the search efforts. Lifeboats from Swanage, Poole, Yarmouth, and Weymouth scoured the waters yesterday and overnight. Coastguard Rescue Teams from Swanage, St Albans, and Lulworth, alongside helicopters from Lee-on-Solent, St Athan, and Newquay, combed the area without success.
Search Continues Into Today
This morning, lifeboats from Swanage and Bembridge, Dorset Police, and rescue teams from Swanage, St Albans, and Lulworth are tirelessly continuing the hunt. Duty commander Mark Rodaway, OBE, said:
“We are continuing to search for this kayaker. There has been no sign of him or his kayak since yesterday afternoon and we’re obviously very concerned. We are expanding the search to cover new areas, considering the time that’s passed and the chance he may have reached safety elsewhere.”
The search remains ongoing with no further updates at this time.
