Search on for Missing Walker Michael Wood on the Downs

Police are urgently searching for Michael Wood, 67, an experienced hiker feared lost on the South Downs. The Canadian visitor went missing while walking with his wife between Steyning and Pyecombe on Sunday, September 24.

Last Seen Near Plough Inn, Pyecombe

The last sighting was near the Plough Inn at Pyecombe around 5.30pm. Michael’s wife lost sight of him as they crossed the A23 on the South Downs Way. He had fallen behind and vanished without a trace.

  • Wearing a red and black raincoat
  • Green tweed flat cap
  • Fit, experienced walker but unfamiliar with the area
