Man Arrested Over Shocking Acid Attack Outside Westminster School

Detectives have arrested a 35-year-old man after a suspected acid attack struck terror outside a Westminster school on Monday afternoon.

Attack Targets Two Students and Staff

The assault happened at around 4:40pm on 30 September outside a school on Alfred Road. According to school staff who alerted police, a lone man hurled a corrosive substance at two pupils aged 14 and 16, as well as a staff member, before fleeing the scene.

Victims Suffer Serious Injuries

  • The 14-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and has been readmitted to hospital for further treatment. Her wounds are potentially life-changing.
  • The 16-year-old boy has been discharged, with less severe injuries.
  • The staff member was also hurt while rushing to aid the children.

Police Launch Manhunt and Arrest Suspect

On Thursday morning, 3 October, officers arrested a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He is currently in custody at a central London police station.

“The investigation team has been working tirelessly to piece together the events of this horrific attack. We launched an urgent manhunt and I’m pleased to confirm an arrest has been made,” said Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, leading the inquiry.

Superintendent Ware acknowledged community concerns and assured locals that police are working with partners to provide support and reassurance.

He added: “We will maintain a visible policing presence outside the school to keep everyone safe.”
