Devizes Road Rage Ends with Man in Custody After Police Chase
A man is locked up following a dramatic police response to a road rage assault in Devizes today (12 October).
Assault Sparks Police Hunt
Shortly before midday, officers were called to Steele Close after reports of an assault linked to a heated road rage clash on London Road.
Quick detective work paid off. Police tracked the suspect in his car on New Park Street. When officers tried to stop him, the man rammed a police vehicle twice and fled on foot.
Suspect Nabbed and Held
Officers gave chase and caught the man, believed to be in his 20s. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police. He’s now being questioned.
The victim, also in his 20s, emerged unscathed from the violent row.
Police Praise Team Effort
“This was excellent teamwork by various units to locate and arrest the suspect,” said County Inspector Gav Brewster. “Within 90 minutes, officers had tracked down the man, secured the scene, and even collected CCTV footage.”
“The area was busy during the incident. If you have any concerns, please come forward and speak to our officers.”
The investigation is ongoing, with police urging anyone with additional information to get in touch.
