A tense four-hour rooftop standoff in Portsmouth ended with the man involved being arrested, police confirmed today.

Officers rushed to Widley Road in the 1 area of Portsmouth at around 1am on Sunday morning after reports of a man threatening to cause harm from a rooftop.
Standoff Lasts Into Dawn
The man refused to come down, sparking a lengthy stand-off that saw emergency services scramble to manage the situation safely. Negotiators were brought in to talk the man down.
Man Taken Into Custody
After hours of tense negotiation, police finally convinced the man to step down. He was promptly arrested and taken away for questioning.
The incident caused major disruption in the area but no one else was harmed.
