Man rushed to hospital after chemical attack at Piccadilly station

A man suffered chemical burns and was rushed to hospital after being attacked with a corrosive substance outside Piccadilly underground station early this morning.

Emergency services swarm scene at dawn

Shortly before 7am on Sunday 11th December, emergency crews raced to Piccadilly Circus following reports of a chemical attack. The victim was treated on-site before being whisked away by paramedics.

The London Fire Brigade joined medics at the scene, deploying their specialist DIM (Detection, Identification and Monitoring) unit to assess the hazardous substance. A crime scene cordon was quickly established.

Police probing mysterious assault

A Met Police spokesman said: “A man has been taken to hospital after reporting irritation to his eyes near Piccadilly Circus station around 6.45am. The injured man did not see any substance thrown or sprayed. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”

It remains unclear if any arrests have been made. The London Ambulance Service has yet to comment.
