Witnesses watched in horror as desperate residents jumped from windows to escape the inferno. One said, “The fire started mainly on the balcony, then spread rapidly. I saw people leaping from the top balcony. They had a mattress below to catch them, but some couldn’t make it.”
Eyewitness Describes Terrifying Escape
Another witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I was walking past before the fire brigade arrived. I saw a man jump from a second-floor window, trapped by the flames. It was a sight I never expected.”
