Fatal Stabbing Shuts Down Brixton Road
The A23 Brixton Road has been sealed off between Acre Lane and Atlantic Road after a brutal stabbing on Wednesday night. Armed police swooped on the scene at around 8.30pm following reports a man had been repeatedly stabbed outside the Holland & Barrett health store.
Victim Dies Despite Emergency Efforts
Paramedics and doctors from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance rushed to help the victim. Despite desperate first aid attempts, the man, believed to be in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by 8.45pm.
His injuries were described as life-changing before he died. Police had to push back a large crowd gathered nearby.
Investigation Underway, Suspect Arrested
The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers were called at 8.18pm to an assault near Brixton Underground Station. A man was quickly arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A crime scene remains in place as detectives from the Specialist Crime Command probe the fatal attack.
A spokesman said, “The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported. A post-mortem will take place in due course.”
