New Documentary to Rekindle Hunt for Melanie Hall’s Killer
Channel 5 is set to air a gripping new documentary on Thursday, 28 September at 9 pm, delving into the unsolved murder of Melanie Hall. The 25-year-old vanished in 1996, and her death has haunted her family ever since. The film features exclusive interviews with Melanie’s father Steve, her sister Dominique, and lead investigator Supt James Riccio.
Melanie’s Last Night and Shocking Discovery Years Later
Melanie was last seen in the early hours of 9 June 1996 at Cadillacs nightclub (now Walcot House) in Bath. Witnesses recall her sitting quietly on a stool by the dance floor. It wasn’t until 13 years later, on 5 October 2009, that her remains were found near the M5 northbound slip road at junction 14, Thornbury — a grim reminder of a case left cold for over a decade.
Family Plea: “We’ve Lost Something Precious”
“We’re different people now. That night when she disappeared, we changed – we are not the people we were before,” said Steve Hall. “We carry a deep sorrow, a deep grief. We’ve lost something very beautiful and very precious to us that we can’t replace… it’s a family with a piece missing.”
Dominique Hall added, “I would hope that somebody might find a little drop of compassion or empathy for my mum and dad, who are both nearly 80 now… and think now would be the time to let them know and have the answers that they need.”
Investigator Urges Anyone With Information to Speak Up
Supt James Riccio, leading the probe, said the documentary could jolt memories and unearth new leads. He highlighted the importance of even the smallest pieces of information in cracking the case.
The film also includes an appeal for info about an unknown individual spotted near the nightclub’s Old Orchard entrance on that fateful night.
“If anyone has concerns about a friend or relative’s behaviour connected to this case, please come forward,” Riccio urged. “Shedding light on these dark secrets is key to finally bringing justice for Melanie.”
