Six New Armed Police Officers Licensed After Tough Training
Six fresh firearms officers have been officially licensed to hit the streets after smashing a brutal 13-week training course. These experienced officers endured a ruthless selection process before being granted the green light at a ceremony on Tuesday evening.
Round-the-Clock Armed Patrols Ready to Respond
Armed cops keep a 24/7 watch across the county, ready to tackle the most serious incidents fast. New recruits had to prove key skills before even being considered for training, ensuring only the best make the cut.
Gruelling Training Pushes Officers to Their Limits
The intense training covered weapons handling, advanced first aid, building searches, vehicle stops, and containment exercises. It all culminated in a punishing two-day exercise simulating high-pressure, rapidly changing scenarios.
Superintendent Louise Clarke, Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Being an armed police officer comes with a huge level of responsibility and – as the public will rightly expect – we demand the very highest standards of our officers.”
“Over the last 13 weeks we have put these recruits through an extremely rigorous training programme that has been designed to test them to their limits.”
“It is the most demanding of any of our training courses and many of those selected to start it do not make it to the end.”
“It is a testament to the skill and tenacity of these six new officers that they have now completed this course, and I would like to wish each of them the very best of luck in the future.”
