NHS Prescription Charges Set to Rise in May 2024
The NHS has revealed a price hike affecting prescription charges and medical appliances in England. From May 1, 2024, patients will face higher costs for essential drugs and healthcare items.
Prescription Costs Up by 2.59%
- Single Prescription: Now £9.90, up 25p.
- 3-Month PPC: Climbing to £32.05, an 80p rise.
- 12-Month PPC: £114.50, increasing by £2.90.
The Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Prepayment Certificate will also rise by 50p to £19.80, double the single prescription charge.
Prices Soar for Medical Appliances
- Surgical Bra: £32.50, up 80p.
- Abdominal or Spinal Support: £49.05, increased by £1.25.
- Stock Acrylic Wig: £80.15, a £2.00 hike.
- Partial Human Hair Wig: £212.35, up £5.35.
- Full Bespoke Human Hair Wig: £310.55, a £7.85 jump.
