Violence Erupts at ‘Unite the Kingdom’ Protest in Whitehall
Chaos hit Whitehall as violence broke out during the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ protest, with nine arrests made and more expected. Supporters of Robinson clashed with counter-demonstrators in a tense and fiery showdown.
Projectiles, Bottles and Police Horses in Danger
The situation escalated when Robinson’s supporters hurled projectiles at rival protesters, sparking a standoff. A glass bottle struck a police horse, causing both the animal and its rider to stagger amid the turmoil. Mounted police resorted to batons to control the aggressive crowd gathered near Whitehall and Trafalgar Square.
The rally featured speeches from Robinson, Katie Hopkins, and far-right European figures including Eric Zemmour and Morten Messerschmidt, alongside musical acts.
Heavy Police Presence Amid Public Order Crackdown
The Metropolitan Police enforced strict Public Order Act conditions, shutting down the anti-racism event by 4pm and ‘Unite the Kingdom’ by 6pm. Over 1,600 officers were deployed across London, including 500 reinforcements from other forces. The heightened security coincided with five Premier League football matches, ramping up tensions on the capital’s streets.
Police remain on high alert as the fallout from today’s violent protests continues to unfold.
