Blue Light Blitz Shocks Portsmouth Drivers

Portsmouth was buzzing on Wednesday as dozens of police vehicles raced through the streets with blue lights flashing. Motorists were left stunned as a fleet of police cruisers and vans sped through Cosham and Southsea, turning heads and causing quite a stir.

BMW Signals Driver to Pull Over in Bizarre Scene

One motorist recalled a black BMW, driving erratically, pulling him over—surrounded by two police outriders. “The driver was all over the place,” he said. Meanwhile, another witness spotted a convoy of six police vans hurtling along from Cosham right down to the Southsea seafront, all with lights blazing.

Police Confirm Training Exercise Behind Blue Light Frenzy

A spokesman for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police cleared the air, confirming it was all part of a training drill. “As part of our Emergency Response Driver Training, officers must drive marked and unmarked police vehicles under simulated blue light conditions,” he explained.

“Sometimes, trainees take to public roads to replicate real emergency calls. This happens under the close watch of a fully trained officer or staff member in the car to keep everyone safe.”
