£40 Million Worth of Cocaine-Laced Bananas Seized on UK Shores

A massive shipment of drug-packed bananas has been busted after arriving by boat from Colombia to the United Kingdom. The haul, destined for the Netherlands, was intercepted on Tuesday, July 26.

Huge Blow to Drug Cartel

Officers estimate the cut and street value of the seized cocaine would top a staggering £40 million in the UK alone.

Adam Berry, 1 Branch Operations Manager, said: “Withdrawing a consignment of this size would have dealt a significant blow to the criminal network involved in this shipment, preventing them from making millions of pounds that could have been invested in further criminality.”

Fighting Crime on All Fronts

Gangs linked to this shipment are notorious for peddling Class A drugs and exploiting communities. The National Crime Agency (NCA) said it is working closely with partners to stop these dangerous drugs from hitting UK streets.

Seizures like this break the chain between ruthless international cartels and street-level dealers, cutting crime at the source.
