Elderly Man Targeted in Bank Cash Theft Attempt on High Street
Suspects Strike After Bank Withdrawal
At around 10am on Tuesday 8 March 2022, an elderly man withdrew a wad of cash from a High Street bank. He then walked to his car parked on St Michael’s Road and placed the money inside.
Distraction Tactic Fails
As the victim settled by his vehicle, a man approached claiming he had a flat tyre. While the pensioner was distracted, a woman tried to snatch the cash. Luckily, the victim grew suspicious and stopped the theft in its tracks.
Police Seek Public’s Help
PC Alison Honess-Crawley said: “We believe the pair followed the victim from the bank. It’s fortunate they were thwarted.” Police have now released an image of a man who may hold crucial info on the case.
