Elderly Woman Robbed and Injured in Shocking Winchester Road Mugging
90-Year-Old Victim Attacked on Busy Road
Police were called just before 10pm on 16 March after a terrifying robbery on Winchester Road. The victim, a woman in her 90s, was travelling eastbound with a friend when two strangers suddenly snatched her burgundy handbag from her lap.
The snatch caused her to fall into the road, injuring her head, face, arm, and hand. Although the injuries are not serious, she was rushed to hospital as a precaution.
Suspects Flee Towards Botley Road
- Two suspects, both around 5ft 5ins tall with slim builds, made off in the direction of Botley Road.
- One wore dark clothing; the other had light clothes with their hood up.
- The burgundy handbag remains missing.
Police Urge Public to Help Crack Case
Investigations are ongoing. Police are calling for anyone with dash cam or doorbell footage, or who saw two figures matching the descriptions, to come forward.
“If you witnessed the moments before or after this mugging, please help us bring these criminals to justice,” said a spokesperson.
