Teen caught with Rambo knife in London taxi raid

Police swooped on a taxi in Southwark just after midnight and bagged a 15-year-old boy carrying a deadly Rambo knife. The gang of four teens inside were acting suspiciously, prompting officers to stop the cab on Lordship Lane at 12:40am last Thursday.

Knife found after suspect fidgets with waistband

One lad caught attention as he nervously fiddled with his waistband. A quick stop-and-search revealed the terrifying Rambo-style blade tucked in his pocket. The youngster was immediately arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

Drugs also discovered during custody search

Things got worse for the teen when police found a small bag of class B drugs on him during a more detailed search in custody. He faced a second arrest for drug possession. He was held with an appropriate adult and later released under investigation.

The other three boys were not arrested, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police vow to keep knives off London streets

“The knife seized in the early hours… is potentially another violent incident prevented and this shows the value of stop and search,” said Superintendent Kris Wright from the Central South Command Unit.

“Tackling violence is the Met’s top priority and we will continue to take knives and drugs off our streets.”

“We are working with the Youth Offending Service to provide support and reduce reoffending.”
